The Board of Directors of United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County is pleased to announce the availability of grant funding for a three-year cycle beginning July 1, 2019. This is a competitive grant process focused on improving key outcomes in the areas of education, health and financial stability. As a result of this process, up to 35, 3-year grants will be awarded to agencies that currently receive United Way grant funding. 

 

ASHEVILLE, NC | October 10, 2018 ─ After a 23-year career with United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, David Bailey, the organization’s President and CEO, announced his retirement effective May 2, 2019.

One of the most powerful testaments to the human spirit is to see how, during times of crisis, we rise up, band together and dig into the work at hand. Just a few days ago we marked the 17th anniversary of 9/11. As traumatic an experience as that was, no one can forget the sense of responsibility we all felt to one another in the days immediately following that tragedy. Witnessing the swell of requests to help, and the power of volunteerism in action, in the wake of any natural or man-made disaster is a healing thing.
