Eaton kicked off their annual workplace campaign on Thursday, November 2nd by hosting Eaton Fun Day. The event, designed to encourage employee engagement, featured live entertainment, a BBQ and chili cook-off, United Way partner booths, a car show, cake-walk and grab-bags — with all proceeds going to support work that reduces the impact of poverty on local students, their families and communities.
Corporate Citizenship
Eaton Corporation continues to lead by example by providing an outlet for their employees to improve their communities. With United Way being Eaton's #1 charitable endeavor, the partnership continues to have a significant impact in our communities. Eaton employees consistently show their community spirit through their involvement with Hands On Asheville Buncombe, where they regularly volunteer at Homework Diners and play a significant role in United Way's Days of Impact. This drive to improve lives and communities begins at the top with Eaton leadership building a workplace culture of giving back.
Eaton's goal this year is to raise $110,090 around the issues of education, income and health and will match 50 cents on the dollar for all employee pledges. Eaton's commitment helps United Way support 37 funded partners and 77 funded programs. This incredible generosity cannot be overstated and United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County is both honored and proud to work side-by-side with Eaton Corporation to tackle the issues that affect our community.
To say that United Way community partners play a central role in building successful students, strong families and engaged communities is an understatement at best. The fact is, achieving success in these endeavors wouldn't be possible without them. United Way remains steadfast in its commitment to these organizations and would like to encourage other private, public and non-profit organizations to join us in our work.
Next Steps
Improving lives and strengthening communities are goals and values we all share. We are all connected and interdependent. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable and when people are healthy. We invite your organization to help create long-lasting community change.
